The Song of India - Phir Mile Sur Mera Tumhara

Mile Sur Mera Tumhara - The Song depicting the India's national integration and unity was created in 1988. The song was written by Piyush Pandey (presently Chairman of Oligvy and Mather, India) and was composed by Ashok Patki. Conceptualized by Suresh Mullick, the song features a group of people from all walks of life, including a supergroup of popular Indians - musicians, sports persons, movie stars, etc.

This song highlighting the different linguistic communities living in India i.e. India's Unity in Diversity was telecasted for the first time on Independence Day 1988, after the telecast of the Prime Minister's speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort. This song was promoted by Doordarshan, India's sole TV broadcaster of those times, with a motive to promote unity among Indians and instill a sense of pride.

The same song is remade by ZOOMTV for this Republic Day and is titled "Phir Mile Sur Mera Tumhara". Watch the video and share your opinions about the remake.
